Attorney General Hanaway Releases Statement on Termination of Unlawful Kansas City MWBE Program

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. Today, Attorney General Catherine Hanaway released the following statement after the termination of Kansas City’s unlawful Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) program:

“The termination of Kansas City’s indefensible MWBE program following our lawsuit is a major victory for equality. We are proud to secure this win for all hardworking Missourians who will no longer be denied the chance to be selected as contractors because of unlawful race- and sex-based quotas. This brings Kansas City into the modern era to ensure contracting is rooted in equal opportunity and based on merit. Our office will remain vigilant and continue fighting to protect every citizen’s civil rights and equal protection under the law,” said Attorney General Hanaway.
